Donate $20 and Provide 2 weeks Worth of Food!

As of Friday at 5:00 pm, Just Food distributed over 40,000 lbs of food to our community – double our normal distribution. Last week I updated you on our plans to address the needs of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting Monday, March 16th, Just Food switched to a mobile distribution model to encourage social distancing while still providing food for the thousands in need in our community. I am happy to report that these changes have been effective and as a result, we have been able to provide food to thousands in just under a week. Not only have we provided food to our partner agencies including Bert Nash, The Willow, Lawrence Community Shelter, and Family Promise, we also have taken our mobile pantry out to communities like North Lawrence, Baldwin City, and Lecompton as well as home deliveries in partnership with Van Go and the Senior Resource Center.

This week, Just Food’s mobile distribution served 1,217 households totaling 2,423 unique individuals. Unfortunately, we know that this is only the beginning of the need in our community. Of the households we served this week, 59% never have used our services before and 14% were senior citizens, our community’s most vulnerable population right now. Each of these families was able to take home a two-week supply of food that included pantry staples, fresh produce, and dairy items.

Next week we will continue our mobile distribution. Families will be able to drive through our facility Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday between 12:00-5:00 pm to pick up two weeks’ worth of groceries. This is made possible because of you.

We still need your financial support so we can continue purchasing food to keep up with increasing demand as thousands are laid off and children are home. If you have donated already, I am so deeply grateful. Thank you. If you have the means to donate right now, we would be so grateful for your support now more than ever. CLICK HERE TO DONATE

3/14/22 Update:

As schools close and many people will be out of work due to the Coronavirus outbreak, our mission of making sure no one in our community goes hunger is more important than ever. These families will not only be facing financial shortfalls but the fear or how to cover the cost of additional meals while children are out of school.

During the ongoing threat of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Just Food is pledging to make sure no one in our community goes hungry. Effective Tuesday, March 17th, and until further notice, Just Food will shift to distributing pre-packaged boxes of groceries for pick up in order to provide social distancing while still providing the food families need.

But in order to do this, we need your help. We want to ensure that no family goes hungry in the midst of this public health crisis.

Just $20 will sponsor a box of two weeks’ worth of groceries for a family in need.!/donation/checkout
